Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation

Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation“[The] core philosophy of Newcastle Permanent Building Society is to make a meaningful contribution to the communities it serves. For over 100 years, the Newcastle Permanent has supported community projects and initiatives that benefit a broad cross section of the population in areas such as sport, education, cultural endeavours and community events.”  In 2004, the Newcastle Permanent Building Society celebrated 100 years of operation and created the Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation. Since its inception, over $6 million has been distributed to community based organisations.

Early in 2011, the Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation (NPCF) was approached to gain support for the RT&LH Centre.  The Foundation unanimously chose to empower people with a disability in our community by ensuring that our unique, therapeutic, educational and mentoring programs continue well in to the future.

The Foundation has provided $20,000 in grant funding to assist us in operating our programs from 1 October 2011 - 30 September 2012.

To begin the grant program, we hosted a launch at the Centre on Thursday 20 October. In attendance on the day were Michael Slater (NPCF Chairman), Barrie Lewis (NPCF Director), Jason Bourke (NPCF Manager), Erin Geise (NPCF Coordinator), staff from the local Raymond Terrace Branch and Sally Dover (Port Stephens Councillor).  This was a wonderful opportunity to for us to show the NPCF members what we do and why we do it. Observing a riding program and the achievements of our riders, under the supportive guidance of our volunteer team, conveys what words alone can not.

The highlight of the day was a presentation performed by Marlee Clement (Rider of the Year), Kristy and Michelle Dalmazzo. On everyone’s behalf, they presented Michael Slater with a framed Certificate of Appreciation. In addition, a photo of them appeared in The Hunter Post!

The RDA Raymond Terrace and Lower Hunter Centre would like to thank the Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation for their generous grant funding and support of our Centre, our riders and our volunteers.
